Merger with Volunteers of America

... continued from front

All of Us Care, a non-profit community organization that provides positive activities for youth, has merged with Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, effective January 1, 2008.
The governing boards of both organizations unanimously approved the merger to improve efficiency, share resources and better serve children and teens, announced Harry McLaughlin, board president of All of Us Care and mayor of Fox Chapel.  All of Us Care will now be a program of Volunteers of America.  Jan Barbus will continue as Director at its present location, 1650 Main Street, Sharpsburg.
“We are very excited to join with Volunteers of America in serving the youth in our communities.  The merger enables both organizations to advance their respective missions,” McLaughlin said.
“All of Us Care fulfills a critical need for youth in the community,” said Alan R. Garner, president & CEO of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania. “This is a wonderful fit with Volunteers of America’s mission to reach and uplift all people.”
All of Us Care’s mission is to prevent youth crime and substance abuse by promoting safe schools and communities through activities such as drug and alcohol awareness forums, supervised computer lab, after school activities and parenting workshops in the Fox Chapel Area School District.
All of Us Cares’ programs's activities enable children and teens to realize the importance of education, positive social interaction and responsible decision-making. Through safe environments, informal mentoring and access to educational and technological resources, the organization provides youth with the tools that will keep them from engaging in harmful behaviors such as crime and substance abuse.
“Our aim is to help our youth make better choices that lead to productive, successful lives.  Our future as a community depends on today’s youth,” Barbus said.  “We aspire to carry our local neighborhoods into a safe and healthy future.”
