The ALL of Us Care Concert Series brings together local western Pennsylvania bands (as well as a few from Ohio and New York).  The musical entertainment gives teens a safe place to hang out on Fridays and Saturdays.  We usually end up breaking even on these things, but any proceeds benefit ALL of Us Care.  All of the bands play for free.  Thanks, guys!

The sounds you hear at these gigs range across a wide genre spectrum, from pop punk to emo to death metal.

A number of volunteers help us run these shows.  Without them, we would be lost!  Heather Barbus has been instrumental in implementing each concert, handling a number of tasks from booking the bands, to promoting, to selling tickets.  Check out her Boyd Show MySpace account.

Also, we are indebted to the Parkview Fire Police, who volunteer their time as security to make sure things don't get out of hand (and subject their ears to the new generation's taste in music).

Some other volunteers include: Benny D. from Dollface Divine, Theresa Smorey, Mell Davis,  Charlie McMunn, and tons of others.  Thank you to all and ROCK ON!

*A personal note from Andy: I worked the refreshment table most of the night, so I didn't hear most of the bands, but I did get to catch some of the songs It Was the Best of Times played, and they had a really tight, grooving sound. Great straight-up rock with keyboards and a female singer. The guitars had a catchy, body-moving sound that managed to not sound cliche or paper-thin. They make me think of a combination of classic rock and indie rock.

I Am Enron

Tormented

Missing Since November

All of Us Care brought in its first all heavy metal lineup.  It was a hot July night.  There were a few meager fans blowing.  Band members sporting long hair, beards, black clothes, and chains were already sweaty from setting up equipment.  There was confusion on who was playing when, people were coming in late, and everything was delayed.
    Yet, the show went on.
I Am Enron, hailing all the way from Steubenville, Ohio, went on first.  They describe themselves as a mix of hardcore and post-hardcore and that's pretty much what they are.  They had energy, but there wasn't much setting them apart.
Tormented was next, with members also from Steubenville, as well as West Virginia.  These guys were pretty extreme, mixing good ol' scary death metal riffing with hardcorish melodies.  The extremity and melody clashed a little too much sometimes, but overall, these guys were my favorites.
I'd seen them once before at an AOUC show, and both times Missing Since November played an excellent set.  I guess that they fit into the "screamo" category, which I'm not too familiar with; I'd describe them more as metalcore, like Underoath or Dillinger Escape Plan.  The guitar playing was particularly impressive.  There was one song in which the screaming was way too high-pitched and out of tune.
Next came the groove-laden heaviness of Stabbing The Drama.  They remind me of the death n roll type stuff like later Entombed or Shadows Fall.  Stuff you can headbang and dance to at the same time is (almost) always good.
The final act was Dahmer's Fridge.  By the name you can probably guess the nature of the band: extreme and sick.  Fast, lots of blast beats, growling.  Despite being last, they still unleashed a lot of quality sonic fury.  Props to the singer, too, for coming down among the crowd--that was awesome!
Overall it was a quality show.  All of the bands played their hearts out and seem pretty serious about their music.
